The goal of physical therapy during pregnancy and postpartum periods is to address posture/alignment changes, instruct in exercises to address muscle weakness and imbalance, as well as provide guidance and instruction related to modification of activities of daily living that may be difficult during these phases of life. The goal of pediatric physical therapy is to promote development of strength, head/trunk control, balance, and coordination during age appropriate play.

Caitlin began her career as a PT in pediatrics with a focus in educating new mothers on appropriate motor development for their new babies. After having 2 children of her own, she began advanced training as a pelvic floor/pregnancy/postpartum PT and obtained a certification in Pregnancy & Postpartum corrective exercise. Caitlin conducts group classes focusing on postpartum recovery and safe exercise during pregnancy. She also conducts infant tummy time classes that facilitate bonding between mother and baby as well as development of community for new mothers. She is able to provide one-on-one physical therapy evaluations and treatment sessions for women experiencing pain and dysfunction during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Wellness sessions (strength training, mobility training, private Pilates reformer sessions) are also available for those following a PT discharge or to work toward a specific goal (prepare the body for pregnancy, return to a specific activity after delivery). A whole-body approach is utilized with an emphasis on corrective exercise/postural retraining so that clients can return to their preferred fitness routines and activities of daily life with confidence. Developmental therapy sessions for infants are available as well.
